Midstocket is a popular area to rent a flat in Aberdeen, ideally situated for those that work in the city centre as it is within close walking distance. It is just to the west of the centre of Aberdeen. Due to its location, Midstocket is a popular and competitive area to find property in, so we recommend using one of our Letting Agent’s in Aberdeen.
There are an excellent selection of local shops in the area with Union Street in walking distance offering a variety of recreational and leisure facilities. The area Rosemount neighbours Midstocket, whilst Pittodrie lies across to the east – home of Aberdeen’s football team Aberdeen F.C.
The name Midstocket has an interesting history, coming as it does from the Forest of Stocket – which was gifted to the people of Aberdeen by Robert Bruce in 1319. It is the source of the city’s Common Good Fund, which is still in place today and gives to charitable causes within the city.
A property in Midstocket offers easy access to the A90 which connects it to both Aberdeen Airport in the north and Portlethen down to the south. Aberdeen’s Royal Infirmary, otherwise known as Foresterhill, is just to the north of Midstocket on Westburn road. It is the largest hospital in the city.
Midstocket is a perfect area for families with children as Mile End School and Building Blocks Nursery are in close proximity. The area is convenient for anyone looking to live near the centre of the city. But if you’re looking for a more suburban property, try Cults. Property in Cult tends to cost a similar amount in rent per month but is far closer to the countryside and retains a more rural feel.
Student accommodation in Rosemount is varied, with halls provided by both Robert Gordons University and private student property companies mixing with more traditional digs. It used to be the closest region to Robert Gordon’s main campus in the heart of Aberdeen, but has lost that convenience since the recent move towards a campus in Garthdee to the South West.
It still remains a popular area for student accommodation, however, as it is close to town and has good transport links to the Garthdee Campus. As such its combination of location, student friendliness and amenities make it an attractive destination for students of either RGU or the University of Aberdeen.
