The most renowned site in Craigmillar, a sub-urban area of the City of Edinburgh located on the far side of Holyrood Park and the famous Salisbury Crags and Arthur's Seat from the City Centre, is undoubtedly Craigmillar Castle. This magnificently preserved medieval building was occupied from the 15th century all the way up to the 18th, testament to what a truly remarkable building it is. Outside the castle, the suburb is currently home to an ambitious redevelopment project, which seeks to make the area into a more attractive place to live and work. To this end, new parks and green spaces are being proposed across the Craigmillar region, alongside the development of more than 3,000 new affordable houses and accompanying leisure and education facilities. For this reason, there's probably no better time to be looking for flats to rent in Craigmillar, as you'll be buying into one of Edinburgh's upcoming areas – with any luck, before prices start to truly take off! Buses link the region to the centre of the city, or an extremely pleasant walk can be taken along the side of Duddingston Loch, if you want to reach the city by a more leisurely route.
