Clarkston is an affluent suburb on the south side of the city of Glasgow, sitting just outside the Greater City area a similar distance from the centre to areas like the industrial
Yoker and equally (if not more) upmarket Bearsden in the West.
The area has its own railway station on the Glasgow South Western line, from which you can get services into the city centre or out to East Kilbride. It’s strong transport links have contributed greatly to the town’s rise over the centuries, and it is now a mainly middle class area that is a great fit for families who want a property to rent that’s within an easy commute to the city centre.
Flats to rent in Clarkston are now serviced by public houses after planning permission was approved in 2006 – before that the area was known for being dry, a relative rarity in modern Scotland. Those looking for more cultured pursuits would enjoy Greenbank Garden, a National Trust property on the outskirts of the town.
