Glasgow Caledonian University is the combination of two educational institutions in the city, Queen’s College and Glasgow Polytechnic. The two came together in 1992 to focus on providing educational that was accessible to all, focusing on the fields of Health, Science/Technology and Business. It has since grown in both student population and stature, and is a popular destination for students of all ages and requirements.
The university’s campus is very close to that of the University of Strathclyde, and it takes less than 10 minutes to walk from the heart of one campus to the other even though Glasgow Caledonian’s campus is located in the Cowcaddens area of Glasgow whilst Strathclyde is not. Those attending either university have a similar choice and requirement for student accommodation, though.
The central location of Glasgow Caledonian’s campus makes it fairly convenient for anyone looking for student properties in the area, regardless of whether they wish to reside close to campus in either areas like Merchant City or out towards the West End where many students decide to find student lets (the main campus of the University of Glasgow is located there, and as such it is the main student area of the city). Since every area of Glasgow has strong transport into the centre finding a student house is more a case of deciding which district suits you in terms of character, convenience and price.
